HERI Institute on Faculty Work/Life Issues May 23-24, 2013

The Higher Education Research Institute is pleased to announce a new opportunity for academic administrators, institutional researchers, directors of Teaching and Learning Centers, and scholars who examine faculty work/life issues. The HERI Institute on Faculty Work/Life Issues provides participants with information on the latest research on faculty and how to use data on faculty to assess and improve teaching and learning on campus. HERI researchers will preview the latest changes to the 2013-2014 HERI Faculty Survey and how the new instrument can help inform campus-based policy and decision-making.

Specifically, the Institute will cover:

  • Current research on faculty retention and work/life
  • Using HERI Faculty Survey data to assess and improve teaching and learning on campus
  • The latest research on part-time faculty
  • Changes to the HERI Faculty Survey for the 2013-2014 administration cycle

Led by HERI Director Dr. Sylvia Hurtado and Assistant Director Dr. Kevin Eagan, this intensive 1.5-day program will also provide training on using the HERI Faculty Survey for institutional change and the improvement of faculty work-life issues. Participants also will learn from their colleagues in the field about strategies to assess and improve the campus climate for faculty
